Welcome to Relight, the home of nurturing and compassionate Continuous Professional Development (CPD), for Helping Professionals in the South West of England. We provide creative, embodied and nourishing CPD that allows for existing knowledge, autonomy and self-compassion to be present.

Relight was founded by Creative Arts Therapists Rosie Strain and Linsey Clark who came together to create an initiative that provides workshops, trainings and retreats for those working in the helping professions. Their work is founded on the idea that good quality professional development can reach beyond gaining new knowledge and theoretical skills.

Personal and reflective development is vital for the growth and well-being of the therapeutic practitioner. Learning through mutual respect, creativity, trust and compassion allows for a more nurtured, empowered and autonomous individual. Thus, the practitioner becomes more equipped and resilient to sustain their ongoing work in the helping professions and respond fully to the needs of their community.

We can all create more room, and more opportunities for growth, in our nervous systems. But we do this primarily through what our bodies experience and do – not through what we think or realize or cognitively figure out’

(Menakem, Resmaa. 2017. My Grandmother’s Hands. Central Recovery Press, Las Vegas, USA pg13)

All the workshops, trainings and retreats both in person and online are delivered from a person-centred approach (Rogers, C. 2003) At Relight we do not see ourselves as teachers but rather as facilitators and witnesses of the creative and reflective process. Our role as facilitators is to enable an embodied exploration of themes, for each participant to feel safe and respected in order to explore freely and to discover their unique connection to the material being addressed.
